Models in This Range

3 models in this range, none of them with a published specification sheet yet. Every model is quoted against your job - send the hole size and depth and we will come back with the numbers.

About the FYCZRC and FYMF mobile RC rigs

The same RC process, arranged for mobility. FYCZRC rigs are truck-mounted: carrier, derrick, compressor and rod rack travel as one unit, so a move between pads is a drive rather than a low-loader job. FYMF rigs are skid-mounted and modular: the rig, the power pack and the pump station separate into lifting units sized to travel on a small truck, a crawler carrier, or on the most remote ground by helicopter. Both layouts keep the dual-wall rod string, the cyclone and the splitter of the crawler machines.

Typical applications

  • Grid and reconnaissance programmes — Hundreds of shallow holes on a regular grid, where the time between holes dominates the cost per metre.
  • Remote and roadless ground — Prospects reached by track, by barge or by air, where a crawler rig cannot be delivered whole.
  • Contract drilling fleets — Rigs that work for several operators in a season and have to move between sites on public roads.
  • Shallow geotechnical and grade-control holes — Programmes where the design depth is modest and set-up time costs more than drilling time.
  • Construction and aggregate investigation — Borrow-pit, quarry and foundation investigation away from a permanent workshop.

How it works

Mobility in RC work is mostly about how many pieces the rig becomes and how heavy the heaviest one is. A truck-mounted machine keeps everything on one chassis and drives away. A modular machine is designed to be split at defined lifting points, each piece within the capacity of the transport you actually have. The drilling process does not change — dual-wall rods, air return, cyclone, splitter — but the plumbing and the rod handling are rearranged so that the machine can be packed.

  • The heaviest single lifting unit is the number that decides whether a modular rig can reach your ground. The total machine weight is not.
  • Truck-mounted rigs are limited by road width, bridge load and axle limits on the route, not by the rig itself.
  • Derrick erection and rod rack layout drive set-up time, so on a grid programme they matter more than penetration rate.
  • Skid-mounted machines need a prepared pad or a crawler carrier, so confirm the ground conditions before choosing the layout.

How to specify the right model

Count the moves before comparing the rigs. A programme that moves once a month and a programme that moves twice a day need different answers, and the answer is a layout rather than a model.

  • Work out the heaviest single piece the route allows, then check it against the lifting plan of the modular option.
  • For truck-mounted rigs, confirm loaded axle weights and travelling dimensions against the permits you can actually obtain.
  • If the programme is grid-based, ask for set-up time from arrival to first hole rather than for drilling rate.
  • Check whether the rod rack and the compressor travel with the rig or separately. That is what turns a one-truck move into a three-truck move.
  • If helicopter transport is on the table, ask for the lifting plan with fuel and rods removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Truck-mounted or skid-mounted?

If the ground is reachable by road and the programme stays in one area, a truck-mounted rig moves fastest. If the ground is remote or the route has weight and width limits, the modular layout is the one that gets there. Tell us the route and we will tell you which layout survives it.

How long does it take to break down a modular rig?

It depends on the configuration and on whether the derrick stays assembled. What we can give you is the lifting plan — number of pieces, weight of each, and the lifting points — so transport and crane or helicopter time can be planned before the programme is committed.

Can the rig be flown in?

Modular RC rigs are used on helicopter-supported programmes, but the lifting plan has to be built for it. Fuel and rods are usually flown separately, and the rig is split further than it would be for road transport. Ask for the air-transport configuration at enquiry.

Do these rigs drill as deep as the crawler machines?

The air package and the rod string set the depth, not the carrier. A mobile rig with the same compressor and the same rods will reach similar depths. The trade-off in mobile layouts is rod capacity and deck space, which is what limits the deeper programmes.

How do I choose between the 3 models in this range?

Start with the hole diameter and depth you need, then the rock and the site. Not every model in this range has a published datasheet yet: where it does the specification table gives the numbers, and where it does not the configuration is quoted against your job. Send us the hole size, the depth and the ground conditions and we will come back with the model and the air package.
